Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Appearing on the Late Show on Monday night to plug his Friday night Dateline on the 5th anniversary of Katrina, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams bizarrely asserted “we’re still enjoying the fruits really of the Clinton economy,” claimed Tea Party activists who say “we want our country back” want it back “from the Trilateral Commission” and ridiculed their presumed hypocrisy as he insisted “you see a lot of signs, ‘Federal Government Out of My Social Security,’ ‘Federal Government Out of My Medicare and Medicaid.’ But for the federal government, of course, those programs would not exist.” (more…)

ABC’s Bill Weir, the former co-host of weekend Good Morning America, debuted on Monday as the new co-anchor of Nightline. ABC President David Westin lauded Weir in July for conducting “some of our most innovative reporting.” But, he may be better known for standard liberal bias, such as hyperbolically asserting during Barack Obama’s inauguration: “From above, even the seagulls must have been awed by the blanket of humanity.” (more…)

Monday, August 9th, 2010

“Uncomfortable” was the word of the day at Morning Joe when it came to discussing Michelle Obama’s decision to go on a luxurious Spanish vacation in the midst of a recession—and to miss celebrating her husband’s birthday with him to boot. (more…)

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Two left-wing groups are suing the government for the right to defend Anwar al-Awlaki, the Muslim cleric who the government says ordered the foiled Christmas Day bombing of a Detroit-bound airliner. Awlaki also exchanged emails with Major Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who killed 13 people at Fort Hood in Texas. On Wednesday, legal reporter Charlie Savage reported “Lawyers Seeking to Take Up Terror Suspect’s Legal Case Sue U.S. for Access.”

WaPo Headline Writers Obscure Story: Drunk-Driving Illegal Alien Kills Nun

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

A lot of newspaper readers just scan the headlines quickly and choose only a few stories to read, even on the front page. Newspapers are often accused of tabloidish, exaggerated headlines. But sometimes, they do the opposite, with duller headlines that seem designed not to inform — or offend.  (more…)
